Seriously! Why do I keep doing this? I find these pieces, fix them up, and then I want to keep them! I probably just need a bigger house, right? I mean, I should totally be keeping all of these pieces for myself! Well, since you probably guessed that I didn’t keep this one (it sold at the Painted Farmgirl flea market), I’ll show you why I’m so sad it’s gone! This is how the dresser looked when my hubby and I picked it up off the side of the road. We were (conveniently) on the west side of the state, in my in-laws’ Ford Escape, with no kiddos. We were on our way back to the in-laws’ house when we spotted this gem with a “free” sign on it. My hubs almost didn’t stop for it, but I kinda begged him to turn around so we could check it out! He obliged and I immediately fell in love with it. Unfortunately, the doors were really damaged and whatever was inside of there was gone by now. I knew it was still worth salvaging, though, if we used a little creativity. Thankfully, the hubs was on the same page! We removed the doors and he used some of the old wood and some new wood to build a box in the hole that once was there. It framed it out really well and gave it a more clean, updated look. We caulked all the joints and filled the nail holes and the piece was ready for paint. I used Maison Blanche furniture paint in Silver Mink on this adorable dresser. It is seriously one of my absolute favorite colors! This piece turned into a unique, updated dresser from something that would have just gone to the dump. These are honestly my favorite pieces. I love being able to save things that may have gone in the trash. It makes my heart happy! The new opening was the perfect spot for this basket I already had. Once I stuck it in there, I knew it was meant to be! Wouldn’t it be the perfect place to stash toys or random stuff around the house when you’re short on time cleaning up the house? Just toss a blanket over it and the mess is gone! I call that a win! And that, my friends, is why I’m so sad this cutie is gone. It’s another one of my favorite furniture makeovers. It’s just such a unique piece and it’s painted in one of my favorite colors! Seriously. I need to stop doing this to myself! Haha!
