This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Maison Blanche. All opinions expressed are 100% mine. Want to know a secret? I have a bunch of furniture sitting in my basement waiting to be painted! I might actually be a furniture hoarder. Haha! It’s one of my goals this year to clear out my collection. At least what I have down there right now. I can buy more, but ONLY if I for sure get everything old out before the year is done! There! Glad that’s off my chest! So, as you might have guessed, this telephone table is one from my stash. I had good intentions of working on it last summer when I bought it, but things happened and it eventually started collecting dust…and random objects like blankets and leftover wood scraps! It was just sitting there begging to be made over, so I figured it was about time. The piece was in excellent condition, but it just wasn’t my style. I feel like telephone tables are kind of a thing of the past, so they need to be updated a bit to make them feel more current. I chose a light, soft mint color (Sugar Cane by Maison Blanche) to give it a more delicate feel and replaced the fabric with drop cloth. I love the idea of this sitting in a little girl’s room where she can do her homework or play on her iPad. Probably turned sideways with her legs crisscrossed on the lower shelf! This project got me going on the basement and I figured I’d clean a couple other things out while I was at it. I’ve had these kitchen towels and pillow forms from Ikea for-ev-er and I thought the cupcakes would be the perfect accessory for the telephone table. I made the towels into envelope pillow covers by folding them over (inside out) and sewing up the sides. They just happen to fit perfectly on this size pillow. It was a match made in heaven. Plus, if you know me, I hate sewing, but it went surprisingly well this time. Don’t tell anyone, but I might actually be forming some sort of skill at that thing. Or not! I’m so glad I was finally able to give this piece a little makeover! I guess it’s time to see what else I can clean out of the basement!
