Almost 3 years after moving into our house, our daughter’s big girl bedroom is finally complete. Sure, she’s only 3 (almost 4!), but she still kinda qualifies as a big girl, right?
We started on this room immediately after we closed on the house. It began with rust colored shag carpet that was probably original to the house.
We weren’t about to let our then one-year-old baby girl step those cute little baby toes on that gross carpet, so on our way back from closing, we quickly ripped out the carpet before heading back to pack up our old home.
We painted the walls and trim within the next year or so. And recently added these gold dots. Every little girl needs a little bling, right?!
I got this custom sunglasses print from Pencil Shavings Studio on Etsy. I saw it as a notepad in their etsy store and asked to have it made into an 8×10. They were more than willing to help and I’m so grateful! It’s super cute. Perfect for a little, er big, girl’s room! 😉
And this dresser has been around since she was born. We used it as a changing table when she was a baby and scratched it up a ton with her changing pad. It had one of those buckles on it and it scratched the heck out of the top of the dresser. It looked really bad and I hated it every time I looked at it.
I finally decided I’d break down and paint the dresser even though it was really expensive and I have a hard time painting expensive furniture for some reason! Anyway, I’m not super into pink, as you can probably tell from the rest of her room, so I decided to paint everything except the drawers to break up the pink a bit. I actually am really happy with it. And since my girly is in love with pink, she’s super excited about it!
I’d like to just point out all the books! There’s a pile on the nightstand, a pile on the dresser, a pile on the floor! And this literally is only about half of our books. We have a ton more hiding out in the basement!
My husband and I just happened to both have saved all of our childhood books and have now given them to our children. We rarely go to the library because we have our own mini library in our home! I actually have to switch out the books a couple times a year so we can keep them all in rotation! It’s craziness, but I kinda love it!
