If you’re stopping by from My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia, thank you for continuing on the tour! I’m loving Kristin’s holiday decor! Isn’t it beautiful?! I’m so excited to be on Jen Rizzo’s Holiday Housewalk tour again this year! It is such an honor to be included with all of these incredibly talented bloggers! If you missed it, you can start from the beginning of the tour HERE. I’ve been doing a lot of refocusing this past year and I think my Christmas decor is evident of that. I scaled back this year and tried to focus my DIY projects on things I could use year round. I actually ended up repainting our whole bedroom because it was just way too dark. I’m loving the brightness of it now! It feels so fresh and airy! These gorgeous arch window panes were made by my girl Heidi at Feather & Birch and painted by me! I absolutely love how they turned out! I wanted them to look vintage and Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint was perfect for that! I promise I’ll share more about them in another post! I’ll keep the window panes up all year, so to make them a little more festive during the holidays, I added these beautiful preserved cypress wreaths. I think I’m in love with them! I threw a preserved cypress swag on our “love grows best” sign that used to be in our entryway. I love having it over the bed now! It fits our room perfectly! Alright…let’s head out to the living room! Here’s a view you don’t see often…the TV! I never know how to decorate around it, so I don’t often photograph it. I moved the window that was hanging on our shiplap wall over to the TV wall and it fit in perfectly. It may just stay there longterm! And you can see our beautiful new flocked tree from Wayfair! I’ve been wanting a flocked tree for a while now and I fell in love with this beauty! It didn’t hurt that it was half off at the time, so it was a total steal! It looked so beautiful after a little fluffing, but I still wanted to add to it. I went with a white and neutral tree this year. I love changing up our tree each year. Last year I barely decorated it, so I wanted to go all out this year. It’s totally different than any tree I’ve had before, but I’m really happy with it. I really like how the white/neutral look turned out! It might be my favorite tree to date. The tree came with brown pinecones and I added white star garland lights, white snowball ornaments, white and beige felt ball garland, and champagne colored sparkly ornaments. It glistens perfectly! And I used my hand knitted tree scarf from last year as a tree skirt this year. The cats absolutely love it and sleep on it every chance they get! Our biggest DIY project this year was this huge chalkboard. A while back I came up with a custom vintage chalkboard milk paint color (read more about it HERE) and I thought it would be fun to make a huge one for this wall that has been stumping me forever. I came up with the idea and dimensions, my hubby cut all the wood, and then I painted the chalkboard and the frame. I like how the frame turned out to look like old barn wood – another milk paint win! Again, I promise to do a more thorough post on this, but I just haven’t had time yet! I’ll be honest, I totally cheated on the artwork. I can NOT draw freehand. It just doesn’t happen. My hubby saved the day by picking up a projector for me and I pieced together a few different designs I liked. Seems like a big purchase for this one project, but I know I’ll use it every time I change the chalkboard art, so it was totally worth it to me! Our entryway is decorated in all neutrals. I love pulling out our nativity scene just like my mom did when I was little. It’s not the same one we had growing up, but just having one means a lot to me and reminds me of childhood. I have a hard time finding room for it though, but this year it had a perfect spot! It fits perfectly in this Ikea terrarium and keeps it from getting manhandled by the kiddos! The extra large sage wreath is perfectly neutral for this wall, too! And I love how it doesn’t scream Christmas. I might just leave it up there for a few months! Well, that’s it for my tour this year! I MAY stop back in with my holiday kitchen/dining room decor…if I get around to it! But be sure to hit the next stop on the tour – Golden Boys & Me! You won’t be disappointed with Courtney’s beautiful style!
