This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Maison Blanche. All opinions expressed are 100% mine. Guess what, you guys?! I took the summer off!! I know, hard to tell since I haven’t posted in a couple months AND the pictures in this post have peonies in them…which clearly aren’t even in season anymore! Haha! Oh, but it’s been such a good break. I was thinking the other day that this is my favorite summer ever. It has been ridiculously good for my soul. I’ve done a lot of relaxing, having family time, playing by the pool, and a little bit of working around the house on things I’ve been wanting to get done, but never gave myself the time to do. It’s been so, so good! Like I said, these pictures are a little old, but I wanted to share them with you anyway, since I’m kind of in love with this makeover! This piece actually sold at The Found Cottage within 2 hours of being put out on the floor! How cool is that?! I guess it was just the right buyer and the right piece at the right time. I got this piece from my aunt and uncle who weren’t using it anymore. We originally intended to paint it and use it for our own house. And we did use it for a couple years, but when my hubby built a custom entertainment center, we decided this one was ready to move on. My husband stripped the bottom piece of veneer off because it was basically shredded. It looked so much better when that piece was off. And way smoother. There were a few scratches on the piece, so I sanded them and then covered them with a coat of poly. You wouldn’t guess it by looking at it, but this piece fought me the entire way. I painted over the poly with an accent color (’cause you know I’m into layering colors) and there was still major bleed through. So more poly. And then more paint. And then more poly. I’m telling you, it was crazy. Some pieces are just like that. They practically beg you to quit, but you just can’t. ‘Cause, I mean, just look how beautiful it turned out. It had more life in it, it just didn’t know it! The final color was Maison Blanche in Oyster and I waxed it with a coat of clear wax to finish it off. I love the color. It’s such a great off-white. And then there are these gorgeous peonies from our yard. I’m so in love. Thus the reason 8 million pictures of them! They don’t last long, so I had to cherish them! (PS – see more details on these DIY “vintage” green chalkboards HERE.) They’re seriously one of my favorite flowers. Ever. And that’s it, y’all! I promise I’ll try really hard to not leave you hanging for so long next time, okay?! Summer is almost over and I can feel that routine pulling me back in. I hate the thought of it, but I know it will be good for all of us! I’m ready for it. I think!
