Can I just start out by saying that it took everything that is in me to hold back from eating these cookies?! And now that we only have a few left, even looking at the pictures makes me want to devour each last one of them! We made Valentine’s Day cookies as a family this year and although I kind of can’t stand the process of making sugar cookies, we made it a fun, day-long event. And thankfully my hubby was there to help because there is no way I would take on making them with a 2.5 & 5 year old by myself. God didn’t give me that kind of patience! We don’t usually make Valentine’s cookies. In fact, I don’t think we ever have! But this year, I was just feeling it. I bought some new cookie cutters and sprinkles and just let the kids have fun with it. I knew they wouldn’t turn out perfect (which is really hard for me to accept!), but I knew we’d have fun together…and they would taste amazing! And in the spirit of honesty, yes, I used the “prettiest” cookies for my photos and yes, I only let the kids eat one cookie each until I was done taking photos the next day. Like I said before, I had to restrain myself from eating them ALL, so you can imagine who this task was harder for! I thought it would be fun to display the cookies in this cute little caddy I painted pink for the occasion. I’m not usually into pink…but for Valentine’s I like pink and red together as much as possible! It’s the one time of the year that I’m really into pink! Somehow, we still have a few cookies left sitting in the display (wrapped in these cute little baggies, so they won’t dry out) and I’m really hoping we can make them last until this weekend. I mean, would it be weird to eat all the cookies days before the actual holiday?! I won’t tell if you don’t tell! I’m pretty sure we need to make this a yearly tradition because it was really a fun time for our whole family. And since the grandmas usually get to help with our Christmas cookie-making, this was extra special to be able to have my hubby be a part of it! By the way, if you’re looking for a delicious sugar cookie recipe (we use this one for our Christmas cookies, too!), this one is yummy and easy! I’ve tried plenty of sugar cookie recipes and these are definitely my favorite for taste and ease of making! Oh, and the little box is painted with Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint in Arabesque.
