I couldn’t wait to decorate my house for fall. It’s my favorite season and it seriously can never get here fast enough. So, when I was asked to participate in “An Autumn Welcome” fall home tour series with some of my favorite bloggers, I jumped at the chance!
This year, I started decorating in the entryway. I wasn’t really planning on decorating the entryway this way, it kind of just progressed over time. That really is my favorite way to decorate. Even though I tend to want everything to look perfect right now, it feels more meaningful when it comes together over time.
I love the richness of the golds, oranges, and reds that fall brings. It’s just so cozy and warm. But since I had the blue striped mirror there already and didn’t want to switch it out, I brought in this gorgeous graniteware enamel coffee pot from my husband’s grandma. I love how it ties in the blue and really stands out against the warm tones. I never would have thought to use blue in a fall display, but I really like it!
The bunting is something I made last year. I don’t know that I ever did anything with it then, but when I pulled it out of my stash a couple weeks ago, I was really excited to use it! It’s so simple, but it just makes me smile every time I walk past it!
And that blanket. Super cozy! I picked it up at Target while I was browsing there the other day. You always know it’s going to end badly when you go to Target to “browse”, right?! I had kind of been keeping my eyes open for a plaid blanket, but when I saw this one, I totally forgot about that! It’s just that perfect rich, orange color. Plus it’s soft and warm. I just love it. I don’t usually buy a lot of seasonal things – especially larger items like this – but I just couldn’t resist. I convinced myself that I could totally use it year round! We’ll see if that happens!
I really like to do vignettes like the entryway, but when it comes to the rest of the house, I don’t decorate a whole lot. So, I finished the living room area with my favorite pillow and plaid blanket. (See. I already had a plaid blanket. Why did I think I needed another one?!)
You can see how I embroidered the leaf pillow cover here. It took me forever, but it’s seriously one of my favorite projects. It’s fall-ish without being totally over-the-top. Just right.
And it will probably end up downstairs in our new bonus room because, let’s face it, it’s white and my kids and pets see white from a mile away and make it a point to get it dirty as quickly as possible! So, it will hide in the basement for now.
PS – I do really love my kids (and sometimes my pets!), but there are days when I wish things would stay in their place and not get dirty for more than 2 minutes! Oh well! I wouldn’t give them up for the world!
