I might be turning into a hoarder. I have such a hard time throwing things away because I keep thinking I might use them in some way eventually, so I really need to hang on to them! Prime example – my husband tossed some old boards in the trash on trash day when I wasn’t looking, so when he wasn’t looking, I ran out there and rescued those poor boards! Yep, I picked my own trash! I just couldn’t handle knowing there might be a use for those boards one of these days!
This bird’s nest kinda has a similar story. I was making my daughter’s gallery wall frame and had all these strings left over from the drop cloth. I threw the piles on a chair as I worked, not really thinking about it. As the pile got bigger, I started thinking maybe this little pile of string could be used for something.
I kept working and adding to my pile and kept that thought in the back of my mind. I finished my project and started picking up and held that ball of string in my hand, trying to think of what I could do with it because it was certainly too good to just throw in the trash!
And then it came to me! Bird’s nest! I could toss it in a bowl, add a couple (fake) eggs, and it could be a cute, non-traditional bird’s nest.
And so continues the problem with all this crazy repurposing we crafters do. Ya just can’t throw anything away because it may be able to be used in some cool way and if it’s gone, you will never know what it could have been! Let the hoarding continue!
