I’m so glad spring is here! I feel like I’m constantly saying that, but it’s true! I feel so much more energetic, ambitious, and alive with all this sunshine and warm weather. And by warm weather, I mean 40s and 50s. In a few weeks that won’t sound warm at all, but I’ll take it for now! Anywho … since I’ve been getting more done these days, I thought it was finally time to tackle the living room. Rearranging the living room lead to painting this mirror. And painting this mirror lead to putting together this fun little spring vignette! Yes, my house is a disaster, but I do have a spring vignette! You know how it goes, right?!
Before I get into the vignette, I have to show you how easy this mirror was to update. I first shared it here as part of some industrial decor items I purchased last year. I really liked the mirror for about 5 minutes and then I got sick of it. Doesn’t sound at all like me, does it? 🙂 I put up with it for a long time, but finally decided it was time to give it a little update. I decided on stripes ’cause, well, I’m kinda obsessed with stripes!
I taped the mirror with painters tape (the smaller pieces are spacers that I took out before painting) and then dry brushed the mirror with Maison Blanche furniture paint in Bayou Blue. I pulled the tape off, lightly sanded the stripes, cleaned the mirror and hung it up.
It’s great what a little paint can do, isn’t it? I really love this mirror now. And the best part is that it’s now one-of-a-kind! Which I love even more! I think that’s why I didn’t like the mirror before. It just wasn’t me … yet!
The mirror was originally hanging over the couch, but I didn’t like it there, so it got a new home by the front door. This side table got moved, too, while I was rearranging furniture. It just kind of worked here, so I moved a few more things around and came up with this little spring vignette.
One thing I love about my home decor hoarding addiction is that I can run downstairs, grab some things from the storage bins, plop ’em down, rearrange them a million times, and have a free styled vignette! I love that word! Free!
And, of course, I couldn’t leave out my favorite decorating books! The covers add such a perfect springy pop of color!
I had to share this last one of my baby girl! She was playing in the living room with her big sister while I was setting up my shot and crawled right in. I couldn’t not take a picture of her! Silly little girl! 🙂
