So, I’ve been painting up a storm lately. Well, I’ve been trying to paint, anyway! I have had two duds that have been giving me problem after problem. Seriously! They’ve been pains in the butt!
Since I can hardly stand to look at them at this point, I thought I’d share my fall “mantel” with you.
Fall is so full of warmth (in colors, not weather!) and texture, too! I love working the pretty colors of the leaves and gourds and fun textures from things like burlap, lace, baskets, and especially blankets into my fall decor.
I did my best to find pieces that were as real looking as possible. All the leaves, gourds, and acorns came from Hobby Lobby. I’m actually really impressed with how real they look!
This french document art cost me pennies compared to my inspiration.
I was roaming around Restoration Hardware a while back and found these fun guys.
They’re reproduced 19th century court documents. I love the idea, but for $179 each, I just couldn’t handle it. So, I decided to try my hand at replicating it. I picked up a piece of artwork from Goodwill for a few bucks. Then I removed the art, painted the mat off white, and added a french document I found over at The Graphics Fairy. So easy, and way less expensive than the real thing!
Alright, back to painting! I have to update my booth this weekend, so I better get this stuff done asap!
