Are you enjoying your summer? I am enjoying it by being LAZY!! Seriously, I’ve been so lazy the last couple weeks! It’s awful!
One thing that helps me with my laziness are these fun storage drawers! At the end of the night, when the kids are in bed and I’m exhausted, I can quickly toss the toys in these drawers and plop myself down on the couch!
They won’t hold all the toys, but now, at least some of the toys and games are out of the way and hidden. Living in a small house, it’s important for us to use every square inch wisely!
This is how the drawers started out.
My husband and I repurposed this dresser into a tool chest and ended up with 6 drawers left over. And since I’ve started blogging, I’ve become a hoarder and can’t throw anything out! So, I knew I had to find a way to reuse them!
Two lucky drawers found a new life as these awesome under-couch-storage-bins.
. . .
First, my hubby cut off the “lip” around the edges of the drawers and then sanded down the drawer fronts. Then he stuck some little felt pads to the bottoms so they wouldn’t scratch our wood floors.
I gave both drawers three coats of Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan in Arles and then gave them each a coat of clear wax to protect them from wear and tear.
I added some pretty black pull handles and they were good to go!
Now we have a place to store the coloring books …
… and of course, the board games!
Disclaimer: No, the drawers are not this neat on a daily basis! Let’s just say they are well loved! But, they do their job, and that’s what I love about them!
Enjoy your summer, friends! 🙂
